how to stay cool, giant lizard style

I was walking down the street near my office, when my friend stopped, stared down the sewage hole, and then looked up at me and grinned.

I couldn't see anything out of ordinary at first, but then upon closer inspection...

...saw the giant lizard!
(...Or, more correctly, a "water monitor". You can just see its long head sticking out of the water here...)

It seems to have found a nice way to cool off in this horribly hot weather.



(The water monitor was quite a bit more visible at first, but when it noticed us staring down at it, it scuttled into the water and just kept its head out to keep an eye on us...)
